Guns are not a joke
I read a sickening post about Lamont Powell, one of the two (or three?) people who were shot but did not die in the massacre at 1304 Franklin Avenue. A photo of him with what looks like an assault rifle was re-posted with the comment that the gun was not really a gun but was “just a prop for a video.” It is insane to glamorize violence and then weep when it becomes real. An assault rifle is not an OK fashion accessory. For the love of humanity, learn to use power tools and do something useful.
There is no acceptable reason whatsoever for the presence of an assault rifle in Wilkinsburg. If you know someone who has an assault rifle and you maintain pleasant social interaction with that person without calling them on their weapon of mass destruction, shame on you. If you know who has weapons for sale “on the street” and you don’t report this to the police, you are not cool, you are a jerk and worse.
My comment on the signs that say “Stop the Shooting — We Love You” — I say — Stop carrying guns around because for sure there will be shooting if you tolerate the presence of guns. We do not love you carrying a gun.
The phone number for tips concerning the massacre is 1-800-283-4867.
